If by any account Un autre monde belongs to the realm of satire, the latter is less concerned with civil society than with the lack of civility in the relationship between the Quill and the Pencil. At stake is a revolutionary change in the relations between text and image. Far from contenting itself with a satirical and expected inversion of the balance of power between Quill and Pencil, Un autre monde suggests, through the use of the puff – shameless hype associated with sophomoric prank – a truly Copernican revolution, which wreaks havoc with the ancient order between the two. The puff gives rise to a genuine literary revolution, which replaces the Ancien Regime of representation relative to a model to a New Regime of absolute fiction, susceptible not so much of reforming the world as of re-forming a world without form, giving it a new « face »... Un autre monde : a New World ? Better than that : the wind of the puff blows fiction – less object than function – the same, but other.
