In 2006, the Federal Planning Bureau has published two reports on the entwined topic of energy and climate change, this article is mainly inspired by one of these publications. It discusses the different challenges the Belgian energy policy is confronted with based on quantitative material obtained through the energy model PRIMES. Main message is that things are not looking up rosy if past trends and ongoing structural changes are to be continued ; in order to combat climate change, drastic action is needed.
