La mise en scène de l’identité marocaine en Israël : un cas d’« israélianité » diasporique

Cet article traite des représentations de l’identité marocaine dans l’espace public israélien à partir du cas des juifs marocains qui ont immigré en Israël. Cette étude montre combien les frontières entre un centre (le pays mythique des origines – Israël) et une périphérie (la diaspora marocaine) peuvent se superposer et se confondre. Il y a beaucoup de signes d’appartenance identitaire marocains en Israël, comme les statues dédiées aux divers rois du Maroc qui trônent dans plusieurs squares des villes industrielles d’Israël, pour la plupart habitées par des juifs marocains. Toutefois, au Maroc, plusieurs symboles israéliens sont visibles grâce notamment à l’organisation de pèlerinages et autres voyages touristiques de tours-opérateurs israéliens. Ainsi, la marginalité sociale et identitaire des juifs marocains en Israël a peut-être contribué à créer et idéaliser une mémoire de la « marocanité ». This article deals with the representation of the Morocco identity in the public Israeli space thanks to the Jews who left Morocco and immigrated to Israel. This case shows how the frontiers between a centre (the mythic country of origin/Israel) and a periphery (the Morocco diaspora) can be blended and confused. There are many traces of Morocco in Israel (statues dedicated to the kings of Morocco can be seen in many squares in the development towns in Israel, mostly inhabited by Jews of Morocco). A few traces of Israel in Morocco can also be found thanks to the organization of pilgrimages and tourist trips by Israeli tour operators through Morocco. Maybe the marginality of Morocco Jews in Israeli society regarding the national identity has contributed to create an idealized memory of their past in Morocco.
