The article deals with the pecular example of a Christian, Aimé Pallière, who endeavours to get converted to Judaïsm between 1895 and 1924. The refusal, in 1895, of rabbi Benamozegh leads him to turn to a new religion : « noahism ». He became a renowned journalist, a supporter of Dreyfus, but because of the antisemitic environment, in 1908, the rabbinate refuses to grant him conversion for fear or scandal. A reformer, a member among the creators of the Union libérale israélite, he becomes a preacher for the Copernic Synagogue in 1922. As circumcision has been dismissed from this synagogue as early as 1914, he considers himself as a convert. A controverse bursts about this problem, and, oddly enough, this will to the final decision that an agreement dated 1924 grants the Union libérale a respectful status, although the Union had brooken off with the Central Consistory in 1907.
