Un cas singulier dans la presse des mouvements de jeunesse : Chalom (1925-1935), véritable mensuel d’information

Among the papers edited by the French Jewish youth organizations, the monthly Chalom appears as a real information review, different from a plain bulletin as edited by other youth organizations. This article first compares it to the periodicals of other associations such as Chema Israel, the Liberal Jewish Youth and Jewish Youth, before studying Chalom, the paper of the Universal Union of Jewish Youth (UUJJ), mainly dealing with peace and the defense of the rights of the Jews in the countries where they live. But, first because of the endeavours of its President and Head Editor Aimé Palliere to induce a zionistic impulse from 1926, and also because of its inability to welcome young Jewish immigrants in Paris, the number of members of the Paris section of the UUJJ decreases rapidly, Still, Chalom is read all over the world, and is considered as giving useful advice by far away sections. From Paris, the leaders of UUJJ who are also the editors of Chalom, inform the foreign readers of the worsening of the political situation of the Jews in Europe and try to alert their brethren about the oncoming threats against them, and this without the agreement of the French Judaism.
