Une rencontre, un événement provoquent un tracas théorique, une contrainte à chercher. C’est dans ce fil que Lacan, invité à Sainte-Anne au titre de psychanalyste, reprend l’exercice de la présentation de malades.
Dans le dialogue du patient avec le présentateur, il arrive parfois que, dans la rencontre, un surgissement de vérité change la donne.
La dimension d’enseignement tient à ce dispositif particulier dans lequel le public choisi, en place de tiers, se laisse saisir par le dire du patient, par la façon dont il habite le langage, et par la façon dont l’analyste se soumet aux positions subjectives du malade.
Le relief de la présentation tient à cette confrontation pour chacun avec la folie ; il ne s’agit pas de confirmer un savoir qui serait déjà là, mais d’interroger cet insupportable du réel et de construire une clinique psychanalytique qui questionne la sémiologie psychiatrique. An encounter or an event upsets theory and opens up new questions. It is in this frame that Lacan, as psychoanalyst, took over the presentation of patients at Saint Anne’s hospital. In the patient’s dialogue with the psychoanalyst, the encounter between the two can sometimes give rise to a truth which changes the perspective. The teaching dimension of the presentation depends on the particular set up in which a chosen public, in the role of third party, becomes immersed with what the patient says, with the way he says it and with the way in which the analyst positions himself to the patient’s subjectivity. The strength of the presentation comes from a confrontation, for everyone, with madness. It is not a confirmation of knowledge which already exists, but an interrogation of the unbearable real and a construction of clinical psychoanalysis which puts psychiatric semiology into question.
