La bibliographie sur la fête patronale de Barjols, qui évoque un sacrifice bovin, comporte un nombre extraordinaire d’études. Comment cette production s’est-elle formée ? Résiste-t-elle à l’examen des données empiriques ? S’agit-il d’interprétations rigoureusement documentées ou de surinterprétations ? An extraordinarily abundant number of studies are devoted to the patronal festival of Barjols evoking the sacrifice of an ox. How did they develop ? Do they stand up to an examination of empirical data ? Are they rigorously documented interpretations or overinterpretations ? Both a field study and the analysis of historical sources enable us to answer these questions.Keywords : interpretation, erudition, sacrifice, ox, patronal festival. Es gibt eine aussergewöhnliche Zahl von Studien über das Patronatsfest von Barjols, der die Opferung eines Ochsen evoziert. Wie sind sie entstanden ? Standhalten sie einer Untersuchung der empirischen Daten ? Handelt es sich um streng dokumentierte Interpretationen oder um Überinterpretationen ?
