L’enfant face à la mort

La mort fait partie de la vie. Elle peut s’annoncer et être attendue dans les situations de maladies graves ou de suites d’accidents ; elle peut s’imposer violement et survenir sans qu’elle ait pu être anticipée lors d’accidents, de catastrophe ou d’événements traumatiques. Si parler de la mort à des adultes endeuillés est une épreuve difficile, accompagner un enfant face à la mort est un événement particulièrement éprouvant. Quels mots, quelles attitudes avoir avec un enfant face à la mort ? Comment accompagner un enfant confronté à la mort ? Quelles sont les réactions de l’enfant face à la mort ?
Nous proposons une réflexion issue de notre expérience auprès d’enfants endeuillés et d’enfants en fin de vie.Mots-clés : enfant, mort, deuil, traumatisme. The death is a part of the life.
