Nouvelles visions des conflits : une politologie des « mondes contemporains »

Depuis la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la multiplication des conflits a conduit politologues et analystes à repenser le phénomène guerrier. L’entreprise, qui consistait autrefois à rationaliser la violence pour mieux en maîtriser les manifestations, trouve aujourd’hui ses limites dans l’émergence de nouvelles formes de conflictualité. La notion même de guerre est alors battue en brèche par l’apparition – en Afrique, notamment – d’une violence « hors cadre », souvent issue de la déconstruction des structures étatiques les plus fragiles. Face à cette violence non maîtrisée, et surtout non rationalisée, de nouvelles théories s’efforcent de reconsidérer la conflictualité, sans pour autant s’affranchir d’une démarche explicative globalisante. À l’heure où tant de bouleversements augurent l’apparition d’une nouvelle épistémé, c’est la perception même de la conflictualité qui mérite d’être réexaminée. Since the end of the Second World War, as the number of conflicts increased, political pundits and analysts have given a new thought to the concept of war. In the past, the general idea was to rationalize violence so that its manifestations would be better restrained, now, as new forms of conflicts appear this idea has reached its limits. The notion of war itself has been demolished by the appearance – and in Africa particularly – of a « beyond the scope » violence, resulting from the deconstruction of the most flimsy systems of state control. Faced with a violence which can no longer be controlled nor, and above all, be rationalized, new theories try to re-consider the conflicts ; but they still do not free themselves from an explanatory reasoning which will embrace everything. In times of such disruptions calling for the appearance of a new épistémé, it is the perception of conflicts itself that requires to be reconsidered.
