Bien que la signature de l’accord de Genève en décembre 2003 constitue un puissant motif d’espoir dans la résolution du conflit israélo-palestinien, il est impératif que ces accords ne subissent pas le triste sort de la « Feuille de route » ou des accords d’Oslo. En effet, en analysant le discours des dirigeants arabes et les réactions que suscite ce conflit dans le monde arabe à la lumière de la thèse du choc des civilisations développée par Samuel P. Huntington, on constate que cette thèse tant décriée ne semble pas si éloignée de la réalité dans cette partie du monde. Aussi, afin d’éviter que cette malheureuse hypothèse ne se produise, il est nécessaire de trouver une solution politique à ce conflit. The Clash of Civilizations and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Although the signature of the Geneva Agreement in December 2003 gives a strong motive to be hopeful about the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is imperative that these agreements do not meet the same disappointing fate as the Roadmap or the Oslo Agreements. Indeed, analyzing the Arab leaders’ discourse as well as the reactions of the Arab world regarding the conflict, in the light of Samuel P. Huntington’s « clash of civilizations », it seems that this overwhelmingly criticized thesis is not far from depicting accurately the developments in that part of the world. If one is to avoid self-fulfilling prophecies, a political solution to this conflict must be found.
