Depuis quatre ans, le climat en France concernant le conflit israélo-palestinien s’est considérablement dégradé. L’écart de perception grandit entre ceux qui adoptent une position plutôt favorable à Israël et ceux qui défendent la cause palestinienne, alors que chacun s’enferme assez rapidement dans ses convictions en cherchant de moins en moins à comprendre l’Autre, renforçant ainsi le développement des communautarismes. Ce n’est pas par l’interdiction ou par la loi que l’on pourra améliorer cette situation, ni par l’autocensure grandissante. On doit au contraire favoriser la tenue d’un débat ouvert, libre et contradictoire. Debating Freely of the Middle East Conflict
For four years, the climate in France concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has considerably deteriorated. The gap between those who support Israel’s positions and those who support the Palestinian cause has widened. Each side stands firm on its convictions and takes less and less the trouble to try and understand the other’s point of view, thus reinforcing the sense of belonging to a community. This situation will not be overcome by the passing of laws and bans on this issue nor by increasingly imposing selfcensorship as it is currently happening in France. What is needed is an open and free debate on this matter.
