Migration and Educational Policies

Biagio Speciale
Do migratory flows affect government educational policies? This work briefly summarizes my research on the effects of migration and remittances on educational policies of both developing and developed countries. An increase in foreign labour force is found to reduce public education expenditures in immigration countries where immigrants are more educated than natives. In developing countries, the effects of remittance inflows on public education expenditures depend on the amount of remittances received by the country.
