Samuel Beckett, analysé par W.R. Bion dans les années trente, n’a jamais fait mystère de sa sympathie pour la psychanalyse. Il s’est toujours intéressé à la psychopathologie et a lu les livres de Freud et ceux de ses disciples. Son écriture croise souvent les chemins de l’analyse et anticipe parfois sur les avancées théoriques de celle-ci. Ainsi trouve-t-on dans son œuvre une pensée cohérente sur la jouissance, sur l’impossible rencontre entre les sexes ou sur le mensonge véhiculé par les mots. En scrutant la vacuité du sujet, Beckett, loin de dédoubler celle-ci, aboutit à de nouveaux ressorts poétiques, épiques et dramatiques, mettant à jour des mythes immémoriaux et une foule de figures inédites de l’autre. Mots-clés : symptôme, angoisse et culpabilité, la cure et ses effets, figures œdipiennes dans l’œuvre, enfant comme énigme, la pulsion et ses poussées à l’image, scepticisme et critique du langage, mythes radicaux du sujet et figures de l’autre. Samuel Beckett analysed by W.R. Bion in the 30s, was always open about his attachment to psychoanalysis. He was consistently interested in psychopathology and had read the works of Freud and those of his disciples. His writing often encounters the concepts of analysis, sometimes even foreseeing its theoretical advances. We find, therefore, in his works a coherent thinking on the concept of jouissance, on the impossible encounter between the sexes and on the untruths transported by words. Looking carefully at the vacuity of the subject, Beckett, far from simply repeating this idea, discovers new resources, poetic, epic and theatrical, bringing forth immemorial myths and a host of original figures of the ‘other’. Keywords : symptom, anxiety and guilt, the cure and its effects, oedipal figures in Beckett’s works, the child as enigma, the drive and its movement towards the image, scepticism and criticism of language, radical myths of the subject and figures of the other.
