Le but ultime de la recherche en sciences humaines est d’acquérir des connaissances qui améliorent l’état et les conditions de vie de l’individu et de la société. Celui des sciences humaines appliquées au terrorisme est donc de développer des connaissances permettant de prévenir, d’arrêter ou de diminuer la violence terroriste et ce qui la déclenche, et d’en réparer les conséquences. Pour générer un climat collectif d’insécurité dans une société moderne, il faut imposer la diffusion massive de l’information concernant les attentats. La presse est donc un instrument décisif. Aussi les sciences humaines doivent-elles en étudier l’action en la référant à leurs propres buts. La recherche portant sur le terrorisme (et plus généralement sur la violence) se heurte en psychologie notamment à trois limites : 1) l’insuffisante scientificité, 2) l’insuffisante prise en compte de la détermination situationnelle des conduites et 3) l’insuffisante coopération interdisciplinaire.Mots-clés : Déontologie (de la presse et des sciences humaines), Détermination, Emprise, Interaction, Terrorisme. The ultimate aim of research in human sciences is to acquire knowledge in such as way that we can improve the state and conditions of life of the individual in society. The aim of human sciences as regards terrorism is then to develop the knowledge required to identify possible future attacks, to stop these and thereby diminish terrorist violence and the factors that trigger it, and toheal its consequences. In order to generate a collective climate of insecurity in modern society, it is necessary to make a maximum number of people as aware as possible of the attacks. The Press has then a major role to play. Human sciences must study the way this works in the light of their own aims i.e. predicting, preventing and healing. Research on terrorism (and more generally on violence) comes up against three main limitations in the field of psychology : 1) insufficient scientific basis 2) insufficient accounting for the situational determining of behaviour 3) insufficient interdisciplinary cooperation.Keywords : Code of ethics (of the Press and human science), Determining, Hold, Interaction, Terrorism.
